Color Delights

A new series from Needle Delights Originals

Color Delights: Aqua

Color Delights: Aqua
By now, you probably know that I LOVE COLOR. I think it's probably one of my favorite things about designing and stitching - I get to play and experiment with all kinds of color. COLOR is something a lot of people seem to be afraid of. According to Websters, COLOR is a phenomenon of light (as red, brown, pink, or gray) or visual perception that enables one to differentiate otherwise identical objects. It is also defined as “the aspect of the appearance of objects and light sources that may be described in terms of hue, lightness, and saturation for objects and hue, brightness, and saturation for light sources <the changing color of the sky>; also: a specific combination of hue, saturation, and lightness or brightness <comes in six colors>.  If that doesn't make sense to you, don't be alarmed. It's hard to describe color in plain english. We usually associate colors with things - ie a yellow schoolbus, green grass, blue sky, etc, etc. There are only three colors that are considered "primary" - red, blue, and yellow. These three cannot be created by mixing any other colors together. All other colors are derived from these three.

Yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, and green make up the secondary colors on the Color Wheel and are formed by mixing together the three primary colors. To take the color wheel to the next level, we get tertiary colors. They're made up of colors created by mixing a primary color and secondary color together. Tertiary Colors are most commonly given a two word name such as yellow-orange, red-purple, red-orange, blue-green, blue-purple and yellow-green.

Then we could talk about shades of color and black and white and brown and gray - but we'll save that for another article. When I started the Color of the Month Thread Lovers Club a few months ago, I said plans were in the works for something to do with these thread kits. This week I'm releasing the first two patterns in a new series called Color Delights. These small designs will be color studies and will all be the same size. I've posted them in the e-store already. If you're already a member of the TLC COM club and purchase these designs when they are first released, you will get the 8x8 piece of canvas free. You will already have the threads but will have to add 2 skeins of DMC floss. This is a special perk only for Club Members. If you don't know what the TLC COM is, click HERE to read more about it. You may join anytime and stop anytime. You may also sign up to automatically receive the Color Delights patterns as they are released. Price for each is $10.00.
