Unfinished Projects

Got Some??

Summer Iris

Summer Iris
Do you ever find yourself wondering "Why the he_ _ didn't I finish this project? It crossed my mind when I came across this "scrap of fabric" that actually had stitching on it! [yes, I was looking for something else but that's another story!]

Then I remembered the moment I thought it was complete - I was going to finish it into a pincushion with the crushed walnuts inside - just like Barb & Alma. I'd been so so successful with finishing another all by myself without my mother. I was so excited.... Then I realized I hadn't put my initials on it yet. Since they were part of the design, I couldn't just leave them out. I don't remember what happened then - it must have been a stitching blackout.

Since it has 2009 on it and it's now May 2010, it's been languishing around - I've not seen such a wrinkled piece of linen in awhile. Making it public may provide me the push I need to do the last of the stitching and add another pincushion to my pitifully small collection. That was the original plan after all. Stay tuned...maybe I will have a pincushion to show you Friday.

I'm off to find the pattern - who knows where it might be?!

For inquiring minds:
Pattern "Summer Iris" is available at Needle Delights. They also have everything to make it, including the crushed walnut shells. It comes in a plastic bag inside a cute little cloth bag that you can use to back your pincushion with - Kathy actually sews the little bags herself when she needs some mindless sewing to do!
