Two Cats Craft Strand Separator |
Puffin Craft Strand Separator I had heard and read about these charming thread separators a few months ago but was somewhat skeptical about them. Pinching my fingers together to hold my floss while separating it one strand at a time has worked for me for a long time. Even though I thought they were very pretty, were they really worth it?
I was happy to see that Puffin & Co was exhibiting in Nashville and I was able to see them in person before making a decision about carrying them in the shop. I was what you call “a tough sale”! I went into the booth with my skepticism and questions, greeted Diane warmly and told her I was anxious to see how these gizmos worked. Once I saw them and got a personal demonstration, I was sold. You just separate out 2 or 3 strands, clip the metal heart or dove onto your thread, the heart will spin and the thread comes apart like a dream. I quickly realized, “ding, ding, ding, these are PERFECT for separating the long strands needed for punchneedle. If you do punchneedle, these are priceless! I couldn’t get enough of them fast enough.
The beautiful metal embellishments that adorn the rustic heart collections are creations of Art & SoulWorks. They are hand-crafted from copper, brass and nickel by local artisans in a small village in Thailand where project proceeds contribute to the health, education and welfare of their community.
To see a short video demonstration by the inventor, ClickHereThey started selling right away in the shop when we brought them home and we are preparing to order more. Let us know if you want any – we may already have the designs you want or will be happy to include your order with ours at the end of this week. They are wonderful gifts. There are a lot of designs to choose from and you can see them on Puffin's website - be sure to email us to order though - if you order them directly from Puffin, you're not contributing to "supporting your local shop" (ie Keeping Needle Delights in business!).
So, to answer the question, "are they worth it?" A hearty “Yes, they are!” written by: Kathy Rees, 3-3-09
