Happy Holidays Stitchers –
I missed sending out my usual Friday News because I was busy helping customers pick out holiday gifts and preparing for our Saturday Christmas Party – thanks to all that came. We had a good time and signed up a lot of people for the Needlepoint Ornament Club. You can now view a few of the finished ornaments at
You still have time to sign up but hurry – in order to have the supplies for the first classes in January, I will have to order supplies this week. Joining the ornament club for $12/mo plus $1.50 S&H includes the pattern, canvas, and all threads. They will be done on 18ct canvas with Watercolors, floss, and metallics.
If you'd rather do one project instead of individual ornaments, you can choose to stitch them next to each other on the same piece of canvas, making a Christmas tree. There will be 12 classes but the tree will need additional patterns and threads to be completed. If you are in the Club, you will get the patterns free but will need to buy the additional threads to complete the design. I will kit these and offer them at various times throughout the year so that the tree will be able to be completely stitched by the time the Ornament Club ends (in December 2006). Email me if you’d like more info on the Tree idea – I’m not sure how much sense it makes if you can’t see it in person.
Even though it’s Holiday time and you probably don’t have much time to stitch, there are going to be lots of fun new things coming down the pike in the near future. I’ll list a few of them here and probably repeat them after the New Year in case some people miss them. I always look forward to going to Market in Nashville at the beginning of February and I’m starting to get emails from designers of things that will be introduced. I’ll share them with you along the way. First there will be another Stitch-A-Licious cookbook – last year’s was such a hit, they are doing another and I imagine the price will be the same - $12.95. I’ll start taking reservations anytime. Just email me with the subject Cookbook (ps Katherine McKamey does NOT need to email me – she’s the one who wrote the fabulous review of last years that you may remember and hopefully she’ll do it again for us this year!)
A Most Noble Pursuit –
Ten of your favorite design companies have joined to create a limited-edition collaboration sampler, A Most Noble Pursuit. It will be released at the Nashville Needlework Market in February, 2006!! The designers are Brightneedle, Carriage House Samplings, Hands to Work, La D Da, Patricia Ann Designs, Praiseworthy Stitches, Primitive Traditions, A Stitch and A Prayer, With My Needle, and The Workbasket. This piece reminds me of the Houses of Hawk Run (it’s one of my Stitcher’s Resolutions!) and will be an excellent companion piece. I knew it would be in my near stitching future before the entire picture even came on the screen. If it affects you the same way, just let me know and I’ll reserve one for you. You can also pre-order fabric and threads – silks or cottons. I will need prepayment on this one by Feb 1st. To view it and read more details, here’s a link
New Shepherds Bush Automatic Be-Attitude Series
Tina and Terry of Shepherd's Bush have announced their 2006 set of 'Be-Attitude' designs that we will offer to automatically ship to you each month. There will be 12 'advice' designs -- each is offered as the chart, stitched on 10ct fabric, (the first is on 10ct Navy Heatherfield) and features a package of Just Another Button Company clay buttons. Offered every month, each time, we'll compile the chart, fabric and button pack for you and automatically mail it to you. As the button packs will vary in price, so will each month’s automatic - just a bit. Very cute, very low-key on the stitching end of things, so they're finishable... the first 'Be Warm' is really cute, and will ship as soon as we have all the component parts in the shop! It's our new “Attitude Auto!” I’ve seen a picture of the first one somewhere but can’t locate it now. If you could see my desk, you’d know why!
Lizzie Kate 2006 Flip-its
I received a Christmas card from Lizzie Kate with a photo of the 12 Blessings of Christmas ornaments that will be the 2006 Flip-It Ornament Series. Stop by the shop to see it or wait to see it on their website – I expect that they’ll have it up any day now. They are really cute and look like they’ll be easy to finish.
Prayer Tree Update
We are starting to get postcards back from the people we sent Pray Trees to. Here’s a email I received from one of the recipients. She is one of my regular “out of town” customers and her house was completely flooded -
“I was so uplifted in spirit knowing other people are thinking and praying for us. I was pleased to get one of the many prayer trees. It made me feel so much better, because I had just come back from FEMA – trying to get a trailer since September, but was told the same thing - I am on the list. So to get this in the mail made me feel better. Tell everyone the “Prayer Tree" does work. I am hoping for a trailer before Christmas, but who knows when I will receive one. Thanks for all your thoughts and making me one of the people that received a "Prayer Tree". Thanks to all who have put their time and effort in these for us who have lost so much. Much love to all. Mona Guess”
We’re open this week the usual hours and we will have our usual Tuesday night stitching tomorrow. We will be closed on Saturday, Dec 24th and will reopen on Friday, Dec 30th. We will also be open on Saturday, Dec 31st from 9-2. We’ll be finishing up our inventory that afternoon and if you’re interested in helping out and coming to a pizza party, let me know. Plans are sketchy at this point but I’m sure I’ll be here til 5 or 6 that day counting stuff – unfortunately, not stitches… Even though we’re normally closed on Mondays, we will be OPEN on Monday, Jan 2nd for Monday Madness - some kind of crazy madness will be taking place - sales, of course, but I haven’t decided what they’ll be yet. Stay tuned.
Even though we’ll be closed for a week, don’t despair – you will still be able to shop. I’m offering a once in a lifetime, well, maybe once in a year, opportunity for you to shop through our Merchant Mall and take a discount on everything you order. This offer is good from now until noon on Thursday, December 29th. Order 1 pattern and get 10% off, order 2-3 patterns and get 15% off, 3-4 20% off and 5 or more 25% off. All Punchneedle patterns, Crescent Color overdyed threads, Trail Creek Farm pillows and kits, and all other accessories available on the Merchant Mall (needle magnets, scissors, etc) will be 20% off. When you order, the discount will not be reflected but will be applied before we total you out. If you’d like us to email you with the total, just email me. Even if you order online, you can pick up the order at the shop – there’s a box to click at the bottom when you submit your order. This site is secure and you can safely enter your personal information but if you’d prefer to order by email, just send it with the subject “Online Sale”. Please include the item numbers and titles.
All orders must be paid by December 31st. Even if you will be picking up your order at the shop after Dec 31st, your credit card will be processed on December 31st. If your order is to be shipped to you, most likely it will be sent priority mail and you will be charged $4-5 depending on the number of items you purchase. If you only order one or two patterns, your order will probably be sent 1st class mail and you will be charged less postage than what shows up on the order form (we routinely do this). Orders should be available for pickup starting late Friday afternoon Dec 30th and all mail orders will be sent out on Saturday, Dec 31st (Postage goes up January 1st). Although Dazor lamps can be ordered through the Merchant Mall, they are NOT available through the sale. If you have any questions, email me firstname.lastname@example.org
Happy Holidays –
