Hi Stitchers -

Here’s the Nashville news – it’s quite long so settle in with your favorite beverage and a pen to take notes of what you might want when you come to the shop! If you live out of town, we’ll be happy to send whatever you’d like.

Where to start? I brought home so much stuff that I can’t remember it all! Luckily I took notes so will tell you all that I can from those! We were shopping until 10 pm Saturday night and Sunday morning until 1pm when we left the show. We’ve just finished pricing everything this morning! I can hardly wait to go through it myself to pick out a new project! Here goes:

Brittercup (our last trunk show designer) has a new Britty Kitty pattern with more adorable cats, a complete kit called Brotherly Love that has two cats curled together (shades of my Boots & Samantha, I may have to do this one!), Stealing Oats is a horse done in the “britty outline” style and is too cute. Spring Flower is the companion to the seasonal punch needle patterns that were in the trunk show.

Bright NeedleEzmerelda’s House is darling – it’s a witch’s house done in the style of the Dollhouse pattern I stitched. There’s also a companion piece that can be made into a scissor fob with Ezmerelda herself on it – she’s not in the house because she’s out shopping at the “Hatz Bootique”! This one’s already been flying out the door (no pun intended!). Mary Kirby (our traveling girl) has been to Kenya and we have her new pattern.

Erica Michaels has a great punchneedle pattern that could also be done in french knots called Seaside Roundabout – I’d love to do this one! We also got to see models of future releases. A Wife’s Prayer for military wives stands out in my mind – look for it in a month or two.

European Cross Stitch has some beautiful patterns from a lot of different designers – this distributor represents a number of designers from Europe and we are lucky to have them so easily available here in the US. You can see all the designs at http://www.europeanxs.com/

Hob Nobb Designs has the cutest patterns that feature clay embellishments. We bought oodles and oodles of “Doodles” – come pick out a few for yourself. $4.00 ea They come in a tiny acrylic case and are just too cute. There’s one for every month plus a lot more. Hob Nobb also has lots of other kits available – our favorite is “Chocolate” and comes with nine button chocolates which look good enough to eat! $16.95 pattern and buttons.

JBW – new charts include French Country Rabbit and Lamb (similar in style to her Motif  Christmas Tree), Friends & Neighbors, Special Blessings, Spring Boquet.

Just Nan had Tulip Time (graph & embellishments $8.00) and a Limited Edition Frost Flower (graph, embellishment, and a WhimZi ornament frame $20.00) - see them at www.justnan.com

La-D-Da has  a wonderful sampler style Ten Commandments.

Birds of a Feather has finally given us L’Automne – the French girl for Autumn to go with the other seasons. She’s wearing a plaid skirt and has darling red pigtails!

Forever in My Heart has a wonderful chart for Dads called My Father, My Hero.

Heart in Hand has released the next two charts in the Mother’s Wisdom series – Study Hard  & Wash Your Hands. I also picked up some really cute Heart kits that come with the pattern, button, and fabric.

Lizzie Kate has joined the punch needle craze and released the first two kits at Nashville. They are Spring and Summer and I had Linda autograph a couple of them for me – they’re sure to be a collector’s item! Let me know if you want to purchase them – I’ll put them aside – first come, first serve. I’m sure you can see them on her website now – http://www.lizziekate.com/news.html

Milady’s Needle had a great chart to go on the front of a Keepsake Photo Album – it’s called Needlework Memories and I’ll be ordering the photo album (for 4x6 photos). This is a great piece to stitch and then have a record of your stitching, even if you do give it away!

Praiseworthy Stitches has the cutest Bunny Eggs pattern – it includes three patterns for eggs done in band sampler style and embellished with cute Easter egg buttons from Just Another Button Co.

Trilogy had Easter Spots, Lucky Spots, Spring Lineup. I also purchased some really cute kits – Warm Hearts, Secret Flower Bed, Secret Snowdrift, and Bee Treat.

Valentine Stitchery released her second Literal Whimsey – Elinor’s Sampler is based on a character from Sense and Sensibility. She also released a fun chart called A Woman’s Work. It’s designed to go in a frame that holds a notepad and the pattern comes with a notepad that says “is never done”. Additional notepads are available. This is another I’d like to do for myself!

Workbasket is becoming one of my favorite designers. Their style seems to be changing a little bit and becoming a bit more whimsical. I especially loved their Mermaids Singing. Also fun are Quaker Rabbit, Turtle, Quaker Odds.

We discovered several new designers at Nashville – some actually new and some just new to us. They are Stitching Pretty Presents (www.stitchingpretty.com), Stone & Thread (www.stoneandthread.com), and Hands to Work – we brought back stuff from all of them! I also ordered from Cat’s Whiskers (www.thecatswhiskers.net.au) because they had sold out of everything by the time we got to them. The patterns are not of cats but very elegant style designs – that’s all I remember now!

Mirabilia’s second fairy kit is now available. She is the Easter Fairy and is very pretty – you can see her on our website by clicking on the Merchant Mall link on the home page under the menus.  $50.00 kit complete with pattern, linen, overdyed threads and metallics.

Remember the Dolly Mamas? Well, before they Mamas, they were Chicklets. We have kits for Motor Mouth, Miss Understood, Miss Know-It-All, Smarty Pants, Princess Drama, and Miss Behave. $9.99 ea

New Threads

Gentle Art has five new colors – Apple Cider, Raven, Cinders, Dungarees, and Mountain Mist. One ten yard skein of each color $14.75.

Weeks Dye Works new colors are Cappuccino, Cranberry Ice, Azaleas, Envy, and Jealousy.  We were able to bring home Envy and Jealousy (what funny names!) but the others are being shipped. Set of new colors in five yard skeins $11.25.

Crescent Colours new colors are Almost Auburn, Balsam Fir, Jolly Holly, Old Blue Jeans, Copper Penny, and Roasted Chestnut. $12/set includes an exclusive free chart from Crescent Colours.

I also brought home new Silk N Colors from Thread Gatherer.

In the mail today, I received notice that Caron Collection has released new Watercolours – you KNOW that I’ll be ordering them quickly!! I can’t wait to see them since I use them so much in my own designing.

Gadgets & More

From Hillside Samplings I picked up a few hand painted antique reproduction “Bow Makers” – it’s a board with pegs that you can put at different places and then tie your bow on. After you tie your bow, you slide it off and it’s just perfect - I think you may have to see this to understand. $15.00 ea

I brought home a great selection of Exotic Colored Wood Laying Tools and cases. They’ll probably go quickly.

The cookbook – Stitch-A-Licious 2 also came home with me. The cover is a watercolor done by the designer of Bizzi Creations and my first glance through the cookbook yielded some interesting recipes. Zucchini Fritters comes to mind as I type! $14.95 ea

Bizzi Creations is now carrying really cute boxes – I brought home quite a selection. They come in several sizes and lots of colors – I think they’ll be great for quick gifts/keepsakes as the design areas are fairly small.

Sampler Name Plates are a place to record your stitching information and then place it on the back of your framed pieces – we bought some from La-D-Da and Carriage House Samplings.

Needle Minders – We brought home a selection of new dimensional pieces – you can see them at http://www.kelmscottdesigns.com/ $8.95 ea – they’ve been selling well this week!

Weeks Dye Works is now dying Weavers Cloth for punch needle! Now the color of the fabric can be part of your design. There are ten colors. I brought home some of the really pretty spring colors – lemonade, sophia’s pink, sea foam, morris blue and sugar plum. We’ll cut the yardage into smaller pieces and sell individual pieces or a packet with pieces of each of the different colors (give us a few days to do this!).

We brought home a lot of overdyed fabric from Picture This Plus – what fun it was to be able to handpick it instead of looking at little tiny pictures online! We also bought a selection of handpainted linens from Crossed Wing Collection – they are especially designed for their bird designs but a lot of other designs will look great on them as well.

I lucked into finding some scrap bags of R&R overdyed linens so will be able to offer you some smaller pieces (especially great for the Doodles!) at $3.00 ea – look through the basket and add a few to your stash – lots of great colors.

That's all for now. I'm sure I've missed something but will write again when I have time. I’m still having some issues with my computer so bear with me over the next few days. I spent the whole afternoon today on the phone with my ISP and Dell and maybe tomorrow will be able to get everything set up correctly again. If I’m too slow in responding to your email requests, feel free to call the shop.

Thanks for all your support and business – I tried to keep you all in mind when making my purchases in Nashville. Hope to see you soon!
