News from Market and Website Updates
Sent: June 7, 2007
Hi Stitchers –
I’m home from market with tired feet and a stack of orders waiting to arrive! The first order of patterns from Hoffman (our favorite cross stitch pattern distributor!) came yesterday so there’s already plenty of new stuff in the shop to delight you with! I’ve updated the “New in the Shop” gallery on the website so settle in with a cup of your favorite beverage and browse to your heart’s content. I’ll try to describe some of the things that aren’t on the website yet – I’ll add them as they arrive in the shop. There’s so much to tell you about I hardly know where to start! I’ll just plunge in and you can join me in my scatterings about market – I wish you could come with me to see all the models and meet the designers. Since I’ve been going to market for so many years now, it feels like a big family reunion. It’s also great to be with other shopowners and talk with the designers. I shared a room with my friend Gayle from New Orleans and it was wonderful to stay up late sharing stories and comparing notes! We had dinner one night with Michelle Lash of Brittercup Designs (check out her new designs - they're different, not cats, and very pretty!) and another shopowner from Ohio that I met years ago in Nashville – lots of fun!
I encourage you to read through the email but if you just can’t wait to see pictures, here’s the link to the website
For the cat lovers, I added pictures of Boots and Samantha – you’ll have to scroll down to “June 6” http://www.needledelights.com/index.php/photos/10.html
Off to market we go--- I started Friday night at Sample Spree – the designers who participated were able to sell one each of their new offerings so we could bring some things home immediately to show you – there’s a table set up in the shop for you to see it all and reserve what you want (it’s all on the website too!).
MIRABILIA’s newest Holiday Fairy Kit is “Thanksgiving Harvest”... all in purples and harvest oranges! Nora has also added two more designs to her Pixie Couture Collection - Lilly and Daisy – you’re going to love them. Nora was signing her latest free cherub charts for 2007 and told me that she’s going to be releasing more charts in the Pixie Collection in lots more colors – she’s having fun with this series!
PRAIRIE SCHOOLER has done another limited Santa design kit - "Let It Snow". Everything is included for $26.00.
KELMSCOTT DESIGNS has a new pair of scissors ... and the cutest Needle Minder ever for you Halloween fans.
From THE GENTLE ART – Simply Wool is new hand overdyed wool. It’s perfect for cross stitch, punch needle (fine enough to punch with the 1 strand needle), needlepoint – this is a wonderfully soft wool I can’t wait to use it. Seven colors were introduced and more colors are in the works. $3.25/skein or buy all seven colors for $21.00. They also have new colors of floss - think 'back to school' with these new shades named: Blackboard, Autumn, Chalk, Uniform Blue, School House Red, and Schoolyard. They’re on order. Reserve a set for $17.70.
ROSEWOOD MANOR is killing me with some incredible designs! Karen has two bellpull designs that feature the most elegant wooden bellpull hardware you've ever seen ... the designs are called "Claret Sampler" and "Lilies Sampler". But her 'piece de resistance' is called "ABC Tapestry" !!! The entire alphabet with different styles of letters in each square as well as different motifs that all feature 'that' letter. Fantastic!! You all know that I have a special friendship with Karen and it was great to visit with her at market and show her my Inspiration. She wanted a picture so I had someone take one with my camera as well. There’s also a closeup photo of one of the letters in the ABC Tapestry – this would be a fun chart to play with and change around – maybe even stitch the letters on different pieces of fabric and put it together in a large quilt – the possibilities are endless!
The designers at MILL HILL have been quite prolific! There’s a new line of beaded ornament designs on perforated paper - they're musical instruments! Also introduced were two series - Mini Banner kits that feature Nutcrackers and Snowmen ... really cute! Of course, we already are selling the new Christmas Village Bead & Button kits and the Autumn ones as well as the Christmas ornaments and the Mountain Santas – the list of new Mill Hill kits is long and they’re all on the website. Also new from MILL HILL is Stylized Perforated Paper. It reminds me of overdyed fabric but it’s paper – I have some cool ideas for this and can’t wait for it to come in. You’ll have to see it in person.
SWEETHEART TREE has a new Teenie Tweenie card series which follows along with the popular holiday song “The Twelve Days of Christmas!” Each design in this series can be worked in your choice of two ornament “shapes”. From a “Partridge In A Pear Tree” right through to “Twelve Drummers Drumming” you’re going to LOVE them! The first four “Days of Christmas” are “A Partridge In a Pear Tree,” “Two Turtle Doves,” “Three French Hens” & “Four Calling Birds” The next 4 “Days of Christmas” will be available starting in August and with each successive release four additional designs will become available so that you can have the complete set hanging on your Christmas tree before year’s end. We got to see all 12 and I’m sure this will be a very popular series. These are really elegant!! Let us know if you want to collect them as they are released. Also from Sweetheart Tree are kits “G is for Grapes” and “H is for Hearts”. The prettiest kit in my opinion though is “Pirouette in Purple”.
HOMESPUN ELEGANCE introduced a new series "Meowy Tyme". A new seasonal design will be released that may be stitched on its own or done to hang around the neck of "Meowy", a black felt cat. Pattern leaflets feature banners for two months and retail for $7.50. The felt cat package (which includes felt, button embellishments, and pearl cotton) retails for $16.00. I saw this model at market and it’s adorable. Also something totally different from Homespun Elegance is “Beachy Keen” – this was so cute worked up, especially the small linen towel with the rick rack trim!
DebBee’s DESIGNS released Black Magic – it’s a fabulous canvas piece done on black with some really fun & different stitches. Kreinik created a special metallic for Debbie for this piece (Bolero Black) and it comes with the chart. I wish you could see this in person! I was knocked out.
SAMSARAH released four new Pearls patterns – Mom, Dad, Boo, and Twinkle. They’re all adorable and quick to stitch. At Sample Spree, I was able to buy special kits that include everything, even the frame. There’s only one of each and when they’re gone, they’re gone (you’ll still be able to buy it all separately). Kits are $25 each.
CRESCENT COLOURS released 27 NEW shades of Sharon's BELLE SOIE Silks – these are fabulous! In the regular line of hand-dyed floss, we have: Brown Sugar, English Ivy, Muddy Puddle, Red Currant, and Steamed Broccoli! We got a sneak peek at a new Collaboration series of designs from CRESCENT COLOURS and COUNTRY COTTAGE NEEDLEWORKS. It starts in July and there will be six in the series of "Country Cottage" designs. The chart will come with the hand-dyed fibers. These are really cool! There aren’t any photos yet but this was one of my favorite things at market – as soon as I have a photo, I’ll post it. We also got to see the next two designs in the Collaboration with Praiseworthy Stitches featuring the “Birthday Birds”... very cute! And, Crescent Colours' Summer Silk Sampler will be coming soon too. You can purchase any of these individually as well as signing up for a series. If you want anything, let me know ASAP - there's an auto shipment coming next week and I can add on until Monday! You can see all the series on the Monthlies Page
Also in the Monthlies page is the newly arrived BLACKBIRD DESIGNS latest Loose Feathers selection “Awake the Dawning Day”. You can still sign up for this as well.
SHEPHERD’S BUSH showed a lot of kits that will be released later this month and then more for later this summer. I put June’s releases on the website and ordered lots for you! There will be another Christmas stocking ... we've not seen it yet and Tina didn't tell us the name, only that she's not stitched it yet and that it will be a boy’s stocking.
The kits coming in June will be "Life And Liberty" with sheep and flag waving earth person. "Glory Fob" was designed as the perfect companion to Gingher's new GLORY scissors (we can’t keep these in stock!). "America" is one of the easy stitch designs on 10ct tula with a swirly star button. "Bees" is also stitched on 10ct with a sweet bee button. "Land That I Love" is stitched on 18ct linen and has been graphed with 4 alternative flags for our friends in Great Britain, France, Australia and Canada! And last but not least is "Wish" ... the latest in their Sheep series! It’s too cute. I also ordered a few kits that had been released previously that we haven’t had in the shop yet. There are a couple of the small hearts and some great smaller Bags on large count linen for Halloween. I’ll post them when they come in.
JUST ANOTHER BUTTON COMPANY has come out with the most wonderful little nativity scene for you to stitch and button up. We're going to have this one kitted up for you with chart, buttons and your choice of Aida or Linen! You'll love it!
JUST NAN fans ... wow, get ready! The third sampler in her LIMITED EDITION house and garden series is Bellemeade! Stitched on 30ct Cameo Shell Legacy Linen using silks from Access Commodities, we have the chart reserved. If you want the silks, let us know and we’ll have them too. And just wait till you see her "Queen's Bluebird Box" - it comes with the graph, instructions, embellishments, template for making the box ... this one is has the sweetest little bluebird pincushion perched atop the stitched box and is sure to be an heirloom. It's very exclusive and limited – if you want this one, don't delay in making your reservation. They completely sold out at market and we won’t be able to get more.

We got to see the tree full of ornaments that will be in the 2007 JUST CROSS STITCH CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS ... this has to be the best issue ever, without a doubt, and features your favorite designers as well as new designers! Mom has a Woodpecker this year! Although this issue doesn’t ship until September, we’ve started the sign up list. You can reserve it anytime now to be sure to be in on the first shipment. Last year’s issue sold out quickly!
In the GADGET department, the animal needle magnets have a new Hippo and a different style of Hedgehog – these should arrive any time. To see the rest of the collection, http://www.needledelights.com/index.php/photos/21.html I also found lots of cool new scissors, a scissor holder, a beehive pincushion, some really cool tape measures, and a surprise! I can’t remember it all but will let you know as it arrives.
CROSS N PATCH - Emie Bishop presents another beautiful collection of hardanger designs in "Christmas Tree Lane". Colorful boughs of holly adorn the hardanger trees. These were beautiful.
For those of you who want to 'try' the New Latest NeedleCraze - it's Needle Felting - get ready! I've got it coming! Needle Felting is an old needle work technique that is enjoying new interest. Of course, designs and tools are up to date. You will felt 100% wool roving into designs and shapes using special needles with tiny barbs on the tips. The barbs on the needle “grabs” the roving and felt the fibers together much like ratting your hair. It is quite easy to do – even the shaped designs. Working with basic shapes you can create all kinds of goodies! You will not believe how fast and actually 'easy' this is to do! There are even 'flat' designs that you can make and attach to felt purses, sweatshirts, jeans ... whatever you choose! I got to try it myself and am looking forward to doing some more so I can show all of you! If anyone’s already doing it, I’d love to see what you’ve done!
We’ve got a free chart from Shepherd’s Bush – “Scatter Sunshine” is stitched on 10ct or (18 ct linen over 2) and is a cute little (2x9) addition to a premade pillow or can be framed. We’ll be kitting it up for $34.95 (fabric, sterling bee, and Crescent overdyed flosses). The pattern will be included with all orders placed through June or you can pick one up in the shop. If you’d just like the free pattern sent to you, send a legal size SASE to us.
That's it for now - I'm sure I'm forgetting something but will write again soon!
Let me know what you'd like to order or reserve - I've got lots of lists going!! If not for you, I wouldn't be able to attend market and have such a fabulous time ordering all these goodies. I thank you for your continued patronage. Please feel free to forward this email to any other stitchers you know. I'm working on increasing my subscriber base and have a special gift for the 1000th person who signs up!
