Sale, Holiday Hours, Taco Soup Recipe

Sent: December 22, 2007

Hi Stitchers –

Don't forget that we'll be closed all of next week and will re-open on Wednesday, January 2nd – we will be open next Saturday, the 28th (read below for news about the Year End Sale).  This will be my last email to you before the Christmas Holiday!

The shop will be open next Saturday, Dec 28th from 9AM to 2 PM for the  Needle Delights YEAR END SALE.  20% off everything in the shop – come buy it so we don’t have to count it! We will close early to start counting…

Online Sale
Even though we’ll be closed for a week, don’t despair – you will still be able to shop. I’m offering a once in a lifetime, well, maybe once in a year (okay, it’s getting to be tradition!), opportunity for you to shop through our Merchant Mall and take a discount on everything you order. This offer is good from now until noon on Friday, December 28th. Order 1 pattern and get 10% off, order 2-3 patterns and get 15% off, 3-4 20% off and 5 or more 25% off. All Punchneedle patterns, Crescent Colour overdyed threads, Trail Creek Farm pillows and kits, and all other accessories available on the Merchant Mall (needle magnets, scissors, etc) will be 20% off. When you order, the discount will not be reflected but will be applied before we total you out. If you’d like a total amount due, just email me. Even if you order online, you can pick up the order at the shop – there’s a box to click at the bottom when you submit your order. This site is secure and you can safely enter your personal information but if you’d prefer to order by email, just send it with the subject “Online Sale”. Please include the item numbers and titles. Although I'll be out of town, I'll check emails once a day.

If the link doesn't work, go to our homepage and click on the Merchant Mall logo under the menu on the left.

Inventory/Stitching Party

We'll be counting all the threads and everything else in the shop Saturday, Dec 29th. After we're through, we'll have pizza and stitching. You must email if you're interested in coming - I'll send details back to you. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun.

Thank you, each of you, for your business and friendship this year!  I hope to see you in the shop (or on the website!) in the New Year.  Have a wonderful holiday next week.  I wish you happiness, peace, and joy in the coming year and beyond.

Here’s the recipe for the soup I served at the December Stitch-In. Everyone loves it and you can easily adjust it to your personal preferences. It can be made “spicy hot” to “meek and mild”. If you wonder, I make mine somewhere in the middle using “regular”. You can also make it thicker or thinner depending how much water or chicken broth you put in.

The recipe below uses the crockpot but it can also be  cooked  on the stove . I love just dumping it all in though, and leaving it to simmer for the day (or overnight!).

Taco Soup

2 lbs ground beef (or turkey)

1 onion, chopped

2 pkg Ranch Dressing (dry)

2 pkg Taco seasoning mix

1 16 oz can black beans undrained

1 16 oz can dark red kidney beans undrained

1 16 oz can pinto beans undrained

1 16 oz can navy beans undrained

1 16 oz can Rotel tomatoes

1 16 oz can diced tomatoes

1 can corn drained

2 cans chicken broth (or 1 can plus 1 can water)

Brown mean and onion, drain. Put in a large crockpot and add the rest of the ingredients and stir. Leave the crockpot on high until the soup starts to boil, then turn to low. I usually leave it on low for 4-6 hours.

Garnish with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and/or green onions – if desired.

You can really adjust the ingredients to your taste – use whatever type canned beans you prefer, any kind of can tomatoes will do, and you can adjust the “heat” by using Mild or Spicy Taco Seasoning mix and Rotel tomatoes.

Freezes well!
