Hi Stitchers -
We've been busy here at the shop. Our first meeting of our Sampler/Book Club met last night. We are a group of fun loving women who are all stitching The Little Women Christmas Sampler and reading the book Little Women. We elected a "Group Leader" last night and she assigned us the first five chapters to read by our next meeting. We have decided that this club will meet monthly on
the second Thursday - our next meeting is Thursday, May 12th at 6:30. There are no dues or fees - you just have to purchase the pattern for the sampler. Anyone is welcome to join us -
I'm looking forward to Charlotte Dudney's arrival in the shop today. She is going to be teaching our Russian Punchneedle classes tonight and tomorrow. She's bringing models with her and we have all her patterns. Even if you're not taking the class you may want to come in tomorrow to see all the models. She'll be taking them home with her tomorrow night so this is your last chance!
The man in brown (UPS) keeps bringing us goodies every day! Here are a few highlights:
Victoria Sampler - "A" is for Angel, "B" is for Bride, "C" is for Colonist - these are the first three in a set of 24 charming and eclectic
combination samplers that focus on a different letter of the Alphabet. They include various decorative alphabet letters, lots of spot motifs and
specialty stitches. Each sampler is stitched with overdyed silks, perlee silks, and beads. A lot of people are stitching the samplers on a large
piece of linen to make a gorgeous Heirloom Alphabet Wallhanging. The patterns will come out every other month and you may sign up to receive them
automatically. I've already got three people (four if I count myself!) who are going to do all 24 samplers on one large piece of fabric - it's going to be beautiful and I can't wait to start. There are accessory packs available for each pattern for about $30 each. The large piece of fabric is 26x59 and priced at $48.85. Patterns are $10 each. Also new from VS is Spring Garden Sampler and Heirloom Family Sampler.
Flower & Vine from Fouroaks Designs is an unusual sampler as it is stitched on black - you can view it at http://nordencrafts.com/CHARTS/FOD/FOD0001.jpg
The last batch of Stitch-a-licious cookbooks arrived yesterday. This is a great collection of recipes from favorite designers and sells for $12.95. Hurry and
get yours - the last order went quick and there will be no more!
New from DMC - Linen Floss - 12 soft, neutral shades for beautiful tone-on tone stitching. 12 colors so far. They retail for $1.29/skein but we have them bagged for you for $15/set. Add $1.00 to mail them to you.
If you're wanting to do a quick teacher gift, Bent Creek has a new alphabet row pattern Teacher Row. There is a cute button pack to go along with it as well.
New canvas patterns have arrived from Northern Pine, Laura Perrin, and Amybear Needlepoints.
We're still receiving weekly shipments of new painted canvases - we've got great Christmas stockings and now is definitely the time to start if you want to be finished for Christmas 2005!
I'm planning classes for the rest of the spring and summer. If you have something that you are particularly interested in, please email me back with your comments, suggestions, ideas. I want to offer you what you want! I'm in the planning stages of "Kids Cross Stitch Camp" classes for the summer and would especially invite your comments in this area as to timing, days, etc. I'd also like to start a "Ornament of the Month" club - this would be a great way to get some ornments made for Christmas throughout the year. Please email if you are interested and include a day/time that works well for you - also, are you interested in cross stitch,
needlepoint, or other techniques?
Our keytag system is very popular with customers. For $1.00 you purchase a keytag. Then you have it punched for every purchase you make (yes, mailorder too!). When your card is fully punched, you get $16.00 in free merchandise and you get to put your card in the month end drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate. Make sure to turn yours in by the end of April to be included in the first drawing.
Don't forget - you can shop for patterns at:
I'm sure I'm forgetting something but I'm hitting SEND anyway!
Keep stitching - hope to see you soon!
