Hi Stitchers -
It's a short week this week with the Independence Day holiday on Friday. The shop will be closed on the 4th (Friday) but open on Thursday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 5th the usual hours. I hope you enjoy your long weekend and spend some of it stitching!
Lizzie Kate's new "Fall Squared" pattern is stitched on the gingham fabric and it's overdyed. Since I didn't know about it in advance but would like to start stitching it, I'll be dying a piece of the fabric with coffee.
My tip for this week is about dying fabric with coffee. I've done this several times and been fairly happy with the results. All you have to do is put some coffee in a bowl (let it cool first), submerse your fabric, and leave it for about 10-15 minutes. Rinse the coffee from the fabric and lay it on an old towel (or something you don't mind being coffee stained!) and rub coffee grounds all over the fabric. Leave it standing for another 10 minutes and then rinse grounds from the fabric. Roll up the fabric in a towel and press with a steam iron to dry. If you want to see what mine looks like, drop by the shop - I'll be dying my fabric after my coffee cools this morning!
Have a great week!
