Tuesday’s Tidbits this week features “Tacky Bob”. For those of you who don’t know, Bob is my brother’s name but I’m not telling you about him – he’s definitely not a tip for stitching! Tacky Bob (Box fOr Beads) is one of the greatest “gadgets/tools” for using beads with your stitching. A “BOB” is an acrylic bead box (like a miniature CD case).
The inside of the “BOB” is lined with an acid-free tacky surface on both sides of the case. One side is light and the other dark to be able to see different colors of beads. Just pour your beads in and they stick to the surface so you don’t have to worry about your beads rolling away. The bottom of the case has a layer of foam attached so the box doesn’t slide around while you are picking beads out of it. This allows you to bead on the go – in an airplane, car, or anyplace at home. After you’re done stitching you can close the case and it becomes “storage” – no more pouring the beads back into those tiny plastic containers they come in that won’t stay shut!
They come in various prints & colors. One side is a solid color, the other side is a print. The prints vary from order to order so we never know what’s coming but there is quite a variety of styles. It even comes complete with a magnet to hold your needle when re-threading.
