Friday Update

Sent: January 23, 2009

Hi Stitchers –
Friday has rolled around again. This week's update includes a link to a page on the website featuring some of the items I will see in Nashville in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, we are cleaning up the shop and putting some items on sale to make room for new stuff and put a little extra green in the pocketbook to buy the fun stuff at the tradeshow! Come check out the back sale room - Tonia's adding to it every day!

If you're stitching the new Lizzie Kate Halloween Double Flip-it series, click here for the free border pattern to stitch them all together. Our own Super Speedy Stitcher Sherri already has most of them stitched! Of course, that was Tuesday night - by now, she's probably done! The last three patterns of the series will come out in June.

I've taught and sent out the first Needlepoint Ornament of the Month for 2009. It's not too late to sign up for this series/class. You can view the first ornaments here - I posted a photo of the completed ornament in the Jeweltone colors. $12 per month is all this class costs and it's a fun way to try different stitches and threads on 18ct canvas.

Just Nan news - the first kit in the 2009 Over the Top series (snow) has been released. I have two extras in the shop if you're interested in signing up for this series. The kit is $38. I also have one extra kit of the last kit for 2008 (Jingle) and it will go to the first person who emails me to let me know they'd like to purchase it - $39.90. Click here to see "Snow" and here to see Jingle (you'll have to scroll down to the bottom - NO, I do not have and cannot get any of the other kits from 2008). There will be several exclusive new items at Nashville and I can't find my notes about them. If you want something FOR SURE, sight unseen, let me know - I'll have to go to their room early because they always sell out fast.

We have a new REALLY, REALLY large size zippered mesh bag - it's 19x25 inches and is Ginormous compared to the others. Yes, I know Ginormous isn't a word but try it, it's fun to say! I've heard it said that this would be a great size for a needlepoint canvas and yarns. Of course, canvas on stretcher bars will fit it as well - even my Mystery that some of you are doing will fit in the bag - we tried it because it just didn't seem right... $7.95

If you missed Tuesday Tidbits this week, Click Articles to read about A SAMPLER ENTHUSIAST'S BOOK OF DAYS, A Sourcebook & Agenda for the Thoughtful & Enlightened Mind - An undated journal. We're sold out now but will be reordering more of these - let us know if you'd like to reserve one.

Click NashvillePreviews for photos - I'll continue to add to this page as I get more.
Although I am posting some photos, most designers are waiting to unveil their new products at the show - it's really more fun to see them live in person first before pictures and then I'll post them when I come home. In the meantime, here's a little sampling of what I've heard so far from a few of the designers:
Lizzie Kate will have 3 new kits to premiere at Nashville.  Two kits will be little Limited Edition Easter kits, with a variety of pastel fabrics and embellishments. They’re small and cute with eggs, chicks, flowers and Linda's favorite Easter colors. The other kit will be a very special new variation on the classic ABC’s. It will include 8 skeins of Crescent Colours, but you will choose and supply your own fabric. From Linda, “We think this kit is really fun, a little different and VERY special!”
Milady's Needle is introducing "Cottage Charm Stitcher's Pocket" and "Embossed Quaker Stitcher's Box".
Rosewood Manor “Flowers, Plants & Fishes” features a lovely saying along with sampler motifs to represent the words.  This one can be stitched as is or made even more special as a wedding or anniversary sampler.  Karen will also have a "Watch Over Me" Birth Sampler .. a design that will grow with your child and give him/her a sense of family history too. This sampler could be expanded for generations!
Jeannette Douglas Designs will be releasing a new addition to her Take Time To series ... "Take Time To Read".  It stitches up to 4 1/4" square and of course, has an optional thread pack to save you monies on your fibers/embellishments!
Little House Needleworks has announced an exciting new design called "Traveling Stitcher" and her daughter - Country Cottage Needleworks - will be debuting a new release with Crescent Colours at the Nashville Needlework market entitled "Bayside Bungalows"
Dinky Dyes Threads and The Cat's Whiskers have also collaborated on another Nashville Market Exclusive "For My Friend" Scissor Pocket kit.  There is a verse on the back that reads "the road to a friend's house is never long" ... and ... there will be special Matching Scissors available too! There’s a photo of the scissor pocket on the website but let me know if you want the matching scissors!
Crescent Colours will introduce 8 new colors in the cotton floss line as well as 13 NEW shades in the "Belle Soie" hand-dyed silk line. I can’t wait to see them for inspiration for a new design!! I love the way they feel when you stitch with them.
Cross Eyed Kat has announced "The Tale of Briar Rose" - a new series illustrating the classic fairy tale also known as Sleeping Beauty.  Page 1 and Page 2 of this design series will be available at the Nashville Market.  These designs can be finished as individual designs or sewn together to make a 'fabric book'.  "Advent Ornaments" is a new series of ornaments that can be used as an Advent Calendar.  This twenty-four design series will be released quarterly in groups of three. Each ornament has a Christmas-themed picture on the front and a date on the back.  The ornaments are finished into Pocket Bags so that a goodie can be stored in the ornament in the tradition of Advent calendars. The first three designs are "Poinsettia", "Advent Candle" and "Gingerbread House".
SamSarah will debut two new full size charts, plus her "D is for Dog" Bauble and "First Day of Spring" Pearl!  I’ll get a chance to see all of the Monthly Pearls for the rest of the year and pick up kits for the first four months that include the frame and fabric. Let me know if you’re wanting these because I won’t stock the kits for the shop.
Michelle Ink Needlework Designs has a different kind of  Quaker-style sampler "Quaker Gone Tropic"!  Palm trees, seaside, sunshine, starfish, lizards, surf and sand all done as Quaker style motifs!  The design uses four bright tropical colors on linen. Sounds like fun.
Brittercup Designs is introducing a Monthly Britty Kitty Series !! The first six will be released in Nashville.
Erica Michaels will have several new designs premiering: "Amazing Grace" for counted cross stitch joins "Give Thanks" and "Love & Joy" in this popular series. New designs for the Petites Collection include:  "Little Bit o' Spring" and “Little Bit o' Summer” – both part of the seasonal series on silk gauze. ”Random Threads” is similar to the popular Random Thoughts designs and "Serenity" – the traditional Serenity prayer
Glendon Placewill have five new releases that capture the glorious colors of fall .. and surprise -  One of these designs will be offered as a Market Limited Edition Kit!
Give Thanks -- ABC's Of Fall -- Nuts About Fall -- Floating Leaves -- Harvest Gourds
The MAIN Thing to Remember Is This ...
we have 5 whole floors in the hotel to shop in - more than a hundred vendors!
And only a day and a half to get around to all of them... SO, to be sure we have what you want, tell us before we go and we'll be sure to get it for you and put it aside for you as soon as we return!
