Hi Stitchers -
TGIF!! These Fridays just seem to roll around so quickly! I've been working on a lot of things but most of them I can't tell you about (or I'd have to shoot you! - just kidding!). I've been doing some un-Kathy-like behavior and working on things far in advance. It's not my normal style, although I'd like it to be. Suffice it to say, I can't wait to tell you about some of it when the time is right. It's really hard for me to keep secrets, as Tonia can tell you. The mystery needlepoint class is almost over and then I can finally post a photo - it's completely framed now and I'm in love with it, even if I did design it myself. It will be unveiled for the first time at the Open House (Aug 6-8). The next mystery will start in October and clues will start coming at the Open House in August. Speaking of the Open House, it's quickly approaching (yes, it's earlier than usual this year) and we will have a great Trunk Show from Primitive Needle Designs - I booked this over a year ago and can't wait to see all the models she's sending.
In the meantime, here's what's happening now...
I had so much to scan and put on the website today that I didn't have time to get the update out before I HAD TO LEAVE! I have a standing dinner with friends on Friday nights and can't be too late. I'm writing from home now (the joy of the internet!) and my kitties are here keeping me company! I finished putting everything up on the website and here are the links for you.
NewThisWeek - The Victoria Sampler & My Big Toe charts came in (and have already been flying out!), Nora Corbett (Mirabilia) has two new Pixies, Magnolia & Bluebell, Imaginating has several, there's a new Precious Moments collection (it's been a long time since we've had one of these), the new Buzz Needle Minder and Flower Pot Scissors arrived, new Embroidery/Stitchery patterns and more...
ComingSoon - Lots of kits from Shepherds Bush - reserve yours now. Also coming soon but not on the website yet (no photos...), from Blackbird Designs ... a wonderful new book - "Vintage Halloween. It will contain 13 (lucky number!) vintage Halloween stocking designs that are stitched using Weeks Dye Works, Crescent Colors and Sampler Threads on 30ct Cafe Kona (5 stockings), 18th Century Brown (5 stockings), and Witches Brew (3 stockings) linens. We haven't been given an actual chart price yet, but we're thinking it will probably be in the $20-$26.00 range. Barb told me about these stockings she was working on when she & Alma visited our shop last month and I'm thinking the Cafe Kona fabric Barb bought may be photographed in this new book! I can't wait to see this book - it will definitely go straight into my personal collection. If you want one sight unseen (I've already had calls!), just send me an email. I've already ordered the fabric so you can reserve that too!
EmbroideryPatterns - I'm starting to order a few embroidery/stitchery patterns. I learned to embroider as a little girl but haven't really done too much as an adult other than french knots and some specialty stitches here & there. When I was on vacation in Colorado, my friend took me to a wool/quilt/embroidery shop and they had lots & lots of patterns so I bought just one to try it again. I was surprised to find that I LOVED it! We used #8 pearl cotton and I've almost finished my piece. I'm hoping to get back to it soon so I can possibly schedule some classes. I hope there will be enough interest to carry some patterns in the shop - it is really fun (and easy) to do.
"Happiness...begins with one little stitch" (from the new My Big Toe chart "Happiness")
Be happy this weekend - take a stitch - I bet you can't do just one!!!
