RE: Friday Update

Sent: May 22, 2010

Hi Stitchers -
I didn't get a chance yesterday to get everything done but finally have this week's new stuff posted for you. There was a lot - I wish I had time to stitch one of the samplers from Brenda Keyes of Sampler Company - they are all wonderful. It's probably good I don't have time; it would be difficult for me to choose which to start! I'll have to pick one for my ever growing stash.
It's always good to have stash to peruse when we're in a stitching slump or feeling blue. It doesn't always matter whether I stitch a pattern or not - I sometimes just enjoy looking through what I have and rediscovering something wonderful. I don't always have to stitch a chart for it to bring me joy - sometimes just looking at it or knowing I have it for "someday" is enough! Of course I can always browse the basket of "works in progress" - I have multiple baskets of these gems and every once in a while, I'll pull something out and finish it.
Here's the link to the new - NewInTheShop
I also just read Gingher will be coming out with their 2010 Designer Series of scissors in September - they're called Sonia. This floral pattern features white chrysanthemums and petite blossoms on a background of firecracker red; a sizzling combination that is both sweet and Spicy!  Sonia will only be offered in limited quantities. We'll take reservations and send them to you (or hold them for you) when they come in. $38/pair

For linen "snobs" (according to Tonia, linen snobs are people who like to stitch on 40 ct or 36 ct; mostly, I think to use just one strand of thread, to make things smaller, or just to prove they can!), Weeks Dye Works is now dying some 40 ct linen and the colors are wonderful. We ordered the first two colors, Parchment and Straw, and sold out of the Parchment right away. Now there are ten colors and they match closely the flosses of the same name - Linen, Mocha, Tin Roof, Beige, Angel Hair, Confederate Grey, Putty, Havana, Straw, and Parchment. Sold in 1/8 yard increments. 1/8 is $15, 1/4 is $30, and 1/2 is $60. It's wonderfully soft but for me requires readers to magnify the linen for my eyes! We also carry quite a bit of 30ct Weeks Linen and we have a few colors of 35ct.

I'm off to have my weekend. I've skipped Tuesday Tidbits the last couple of weeks (you got a 12 page newsletter instead!) but TT will return next week!

Happy Stitching -
